Les odonates (Odonata) sont un ordre d'insectes à corps allongé, dotés de deux paires d'ailes membraneuses généralement transparentes, et dont les yeux composés et généralement volumineux leur permettent de chasser efficacement leurs proies.
Ils sont aquatiques à l'état larvaire et terrestres à l'état adulte.
Ce sont des prédateurs, que l'on peut rencontrer occasionnellement dans tout type de milieu naturel, mais qui se retrouvent plus fréquemment aux abords des zones d'eau douce à saumâtre, stagnante à courante, dont ils ont besoin pour se reproduire.
Le vol des libellules est très spécial, leurs ailes antérieures et postérieures sont indépendantes ce qui leur permet des prouesses interdites aux autres insectes.
Odonates are insects with an elongated body and two pairs of membraneous and transparent wings. They also have voluminous eyes which allow them to hunt their prey effectively.
They are aquatic creatures when they are larvae and terrestrial when they grow up.
These predators enjoy wetlands where they can breed but you can occasionally see them in any type of environment.
The flight of dragonflies is very special: in fact, their front and back wings are independent of each other, which allows them to perform tricks that other insects cannot do.
Die Odonaten (Odonata) sind eine Ordnung langgestreckter Insekten mit zwei Paar meist durchsichtigen, häutigen Flügeln und meist großen Facettenaugen, die es ihnen ermöglichen, ihre Beute effektiv zu jagen.
Sie sind im Larvenstadium aquatisch und im Erwachsenenstadium terrestrisch.
Sie sind Raubtiere, die gelegentlich in allen Arten von natürlichen Umgebungen zu finden sind, aber häufiger in der Nähe von Gebieten mit Süß- oder Brackwasser, stehendem oder fließendem Wasser, das sie zur Fortpflanzung benötigen.
Der Flug von Libellen ist etwas ganz Besonderes, ihre Vorder- und Hinterflügel sind unabhängig voneinander, was ihnen Kunststücke ermöglicht, die andere Insekten nicht vollbringen können.

Le Japon ne s’est pas toujours appelé Japon… Ce pays était tellement admiratif des libellules qu’il portait effectivement pendant longtemps le nom de « Akitsu shima » qui signifie « l’île aux libellules ». La légende veut que le premier empereur japonais serait monté au sommet du mont Kirishima et aurait vu dans la forme des îles du Japon deux libellules accouplées.
Japan has not always been called Japan... Japanese people were so in awe of dragonflies that they actually called their country "Akitsu shima", which means "the island of dragonflies". Legend has it that the first Japanese emperor climbed to the top of Mount Kirishima and saw two mated dragonflies in the shape of the Japanese islands.
